RENAME FILES 2.0
This program allows you to rename files in a very convenient way. The old and
the new file names are displayed in text boxes and you can edit them, just like
you edit text files. The files are renamed by using corresponding lines from
both text boxes. For each line in the Old names text box, the file with that
name in the selected folder is renamed to the name in the corresponding line
from the New names text box. The new file names can be edited manually or using
operations. The following operations are available:
- Clear - clears the file names with or without the extension.
- Extension/Add - adds a specified extension to the file names.
- Extension/Change - changes the extension of the file names with a specified
extension.
- Extension/Remove - removes the extension of the file names.
- Fix Case - fixes the case of the file names by changing all characters to lower
case, and the first characters of all words to upper case.
- Numbers/Add - adds numbers to the start or the end of the file names using
specified start number, minimum characters, and separator.
- Numbers/Remove - removes numbers from the start or the end of the file names,
including a specified number of separator characters.
- Sort Files - sorts the files in the Old names and New names text boxes by name,
datemodified, size, or number in the name, in ascending or descending order.
- Text/Add - adds a specified text to the start or the end of the file names.
- Text/Remove - removes all text in the file names, which is between two specified
strings, including or not including the strings themselves. Empty strings can be
used for the start and the end of the file names.
- Text/Replace - replaces all occurrences of a specified text with another text in
the file names. Empty string can be used for removing the occurrences of the
specified text. The operation can be case sensitive or case insensitive.
- Trim - removes all space characters in the start and the end of the file names.
You can store a list of operations in a text file for future use. If you need
more functionality, you can copy the contents of the text boxes in another
application, edit it, and copy it back. For example, you can use Excel to do
some sophisticated formulas for the new file names.
- Operating system: Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows MCE, Windows Vista
