RENAME FILES 3.1
This program allows you to rename files and folders in a very
convenient way. The paths and the new names of the selected files and folders
are displayed in text boxes and you can edit them, just like you edit text
files. The files and folders are renamed by using corresponding lines from both
text boxes. For each line in the Paths text box, the file or folder with that
path is renamed to the name in the corresponding line from the New Names text
box. The new names can be edited manually or using operations. The following
operations are available:
- Clear - clears the new names with or without the extension.
- Extension/Add - adds a specified extension to the new names.
- Extension/Change - changes the extension of the new names with a specified
extension.
- Extension/Remove - removes the extension of the new names.
- Title Case - changes the case of the new names by changing all characters to
lower case, and the first characters of all words to upper case.
- Numbers/Add - adds numbers to the start or the end of the new names using
specified start number, minimum characters, and separator.
- Numbers/Remove - removes numbers from the start or the end of the new names,
including a specified number of separator characters.
- Sort - sorts the files or folders in the Paths and the New names text boxes by
name, datemodified, size, or number in the name, in ascending or descending
order.
- Text/Add - adds a specified text to the start or the end of the new names.
- Text/Remove - removes all text in the new names, which is between two specified
strings, including or not including the strings themselves. Empty strings can be
used for the start and the end of the new names.
- Text/Replace - replaces all occurrences of a specified text with another text in
the new names. Empty string can be used for removing the occurrences of the
specified text. The operation can be case sensitive or case insensitive.
- Trim - removes all space characters in the start and the end of the new names.
You can store a list of operations, called a program, in a text file for future
use. If you need more functionality, you can copy the contents of the text boxes
in another application, edit it, and copy it back. For example, you can use
Excel to do some sophisticated formulas for the new names.
- Operating system: Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows MCE, Windows Vista
